2019 Ford Ranger
The 2019 Ford Ranger represents a big comeback for the model after an eight-year absence from the Ford lineup. The resurgent Ranger’s highlights include a powerful engine, a long list of standard features, and a comfortable ride.
The 2019 Ford Ranger is available in three trim levels: XL, XLT, and Lariat.
Powertrains and Performance
All 2019 Ford Ranger models are powered by a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost® four-cylinder engine rated at 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, but four-wheel drive is available.
With this powertrain combination, the Ranger positions itself as the most fuel-efficient gas-powered midsize pickup. Its fuel saving technologies help it achieve an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined.*
When properly equipped, the Ranger boasts a class-leading maximum tow rating of 7,500 pounds and a maximum payload capacity of 1,860 pounds. This is more than enough power to tow or haul a small boat, a four-wheeler, or a set of kayaks.
The Ranger is available with either an extended cab (SuperCab) or a crew cab. Both sizes come with comfortable seating and high-quality materials. The front seats are particularly roomy and easy to access. Even tall drivers will find they have plenty of room to stretch out.
The base trim level is designed to be more of a work truck and comes with features like air conditioning, a 3.5-inch central screen, an auxiliary jack, and a USB port. The XLT trim adds a 4.2-inch center screen, the Ford SYNC® infotainment system, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi® hotspot, and an additional USB port. The Lariat trim offers an 8-inch touch screen, SYNC® 3 infotainment, and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility.
Standard safety features on the Ranger include a rearview camera, traction and stability control, airbags, antilock brakes, and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. The XLT model adds more features from Ford’s Co-Pilot360™ system, including a lane-keeping system and BLIS® with cross-traffic alert.
