Five Ford Models Earn Highest Honors in JD Power Study
The 2018 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study results are in, and Ford proved it can compete with the best of the best. The American automaker dominated and earned its best-ever score. On top of the company’s score, five nameplates received the highest honors in their respective categories.
Ford’s earning of its best-ever score proves the automaker’s dedication to quality. The manufacturer landed nine vehicles in the top three of their respective segments. The Ford Expedition, Mustang, and F-Series Super Duty topped their segments.
“Customers want a vehicle that keeps them connected whether they’re going places or just out enjoying a drive,” said Jim VanSlambrouck, Ford's Director of Quality. “Our improving quality scores show we are delivering smart vehicles for a smart world that are also easy to use.”
Part of what put Ford vehicles ahead of the competition is the easy-to-use SYNC® 3 infotainment system. The system features audio, connectivity, navigation, and entertainment technology designed to streamline the driving experience.
In addition to its innovative infotainment system, Ford improved its exterior, seating, control displays, and interior comfort. Those changes launched the Ford brand to its best-ever score in the study’s 32-year history. This is the second year in a row that Ford has topped its previous score. Overall, Ford landed in second place among all automakers in this year’s J.D. Power Initial Quality Study.
The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study measures vehicle quality by surveying consumers regarding their first 90 days of owning their new model. Initial quality is measured by the number of problems owners experienced within their first 90 days of purchase.
“There’s no question that most automakers are doing a great job of listening to consumers and are producing vehicle quality of the highest caliber,” said Dave Sargent, Vice President of Global Automotive at J.D. Power.
