How to Pair Your Phone with SYNC
Ford’s innovative SYNC® infotainment system allows you to access your favorite phone apps and to make hands-free calls and texts. If your new Ford from Kevin’s Royal Auto is SYNC®-equipped, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to connect your phone.
Before You Begin
Before you begin syncing your smartphone to SYNC®, you’ll want to make sure that your device is compatible. You can go here to find a list of SYNC®-friendly phones.
You’ll also want to learn your way around your SYNC® system and what all of the controls do. Familiarize yourself with the screen’s touch-screen controls (if present), the buttons around the screen, and the controls on your steering wheel.
First, turn on your Ford vehicle, the SYNC® system, and your compatible smartphone. Once all of these are running, make sure that your phone’s Bluetooth feature is enabled. This is how your phone will connect to the SYNC® system.
On your SYNC® screen, press the “Phone” feature. This will take you a screen that likely says “Please add a phone” since you haven’t added any yet. When you reach this screen, click “Add” to prompt SYNC® to search for your phone.
Now, refer to your phone’s list of devices. The SYNC® system should appear on this list. Select it.
Upon selecting it, you’ll see a six-digit PIN number appear on the SYNC® screen. Then, one of two things will happen:
a) This same code will appear on your device. You will just confirm that these two PINS are the same number.
b) No code appears on your phone but instead, you’re prompted to enter the PIN from the SYNC® screen into your phone.
Now, you’re connected! Simply go through the SYNC® system’s prompts in order to activate features like automatic phonebook download for hands-free commands.
